Methods of reasoning on matters of belief among the Mu'tazila (a critical study)
Abstract
This research deals with the tools of reasoning of the Mu'tazila through a critical study that sheds light on the rational methods adopted by this group in interpreting religious texts and addressing doctrinal issues. The study aims to analyze the tools of reasoning used by the Mu'tazila, such as their reliance on reason, rejecting the single report, and interpreting texts in a manner consistent with their vision based on justice and monotheism. The research reviews how the Mu'tazila employed reason in understanding the doctrine and the impact of this on their view of different religious concepts, through analyzing these tools and clarifying the foundations on which they were based. The research also addresses the strengths and weaknesses of their approach, and discusses the criticisms directed at them by the Ahl al-Hadith school. The objectives of the research are to gain a deep understanding of the Mu'tazila approach to reasoning, while providing a scientific critique of the effectiveness of these tools and their position within Islamic thought. The research seeks to clarify the overlap between reason and transmission in Mu'tazila thought.
