Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the impact of knowledge management practices, in their four dimensions—knowledge generation, knowledge storage, knowledge transfer, and knowledge application—on achieving competitive advantage among administrative employees at the University of Benghazi in Benghazi. The study adopted a descriptive-analytical approach. The study population consisted of 120 administrative employees, from whom a sample of 92 individuals was selected. Data were collected using a questionnaire.

The results revealed a high level of availability of knowledge management practices, with an overall mean of 3.6761. Knowledge generation ranked first among the four dimensions, whereas knowledge transfer ranked last. The level of competitive advantage also recorded a high mean of 3.7455. The analysis confirmed a statistically significant effect of the combined knowledge management practices on achieving competitive advantage, explaining 63.6% of the variance in competitive advantage. Knowledge application was the most influential dimension, with an explanatory power of 64.5%.

The study recommends developing formal mentoring programs for knowledge transfer, establishing an organizational unit for knowledge storage and archiving, linking knowledge application to innovation and development projects, and fostering a culture of creativity within the university.
