Digital education in the cyberspace era: Opportunities and challenges

Abstract

The current research aims to identify the challenges facing the implementation of digital education and the opportunities available within cyberspace. The study adopted a descriptive-analytical approach based on intellectual tracking and critical analysis of literature and contemporary previous studies related to the subject.                                               

​The research reviews the intellectual and philosophical foundations, as well as the terminological differentiation among various patterns of technological education, while shedding light on the most prominent challenges and opportunities ahead. The findings indicate that this educational paradigm faces complex contemporary challenges, most notably: the lack of an integrated infrastructure, a shortage of educationally and technically qualified personnel, and weak institutional awareness. This is further compounded by the escalating risks and practical impacts of cyber threats on the continuity and reliability of the educational environment. Consequently, the study concluded with a set of procedural recommendations, the most important of which are: strategic investment in broadband internet networks, building computing systems for cybersecurity to ensure data protection, integrating cyber culture and digital citizenship into educational curricula, and training human resources to guarantee the resilience and sustainability of the educational system.
