الملخص

       This paper investigates the difficulties that encounter students in speaking skill. The vast number of students are unable to speak English clearly and find speaking skill challenging. Therefore, this study aims to recognize and understand the difficulties encountering students in speaking skill. In order to do this, the researchers conducted an interview and a questionnaire as an instrument for both teachers and students respectively. The results of the study showed that students faced some problems in speaking such as lack of vocabulary, lack of confidence, shyness and the influence of the mother tongue.

    1. Lecturer at Dep. of English at Elmergib University. Libya 2016- present.
    2. Teaching Assistant at Dep. Of English at Elmergib Uni. 2013.  
    3. Cooperative teacher of English in Libyan universities. Present.
    4. Worked as a tour guide in the city of Leptis Magna, Khoms, Libya since 2006.
    5. I was granted a scholarship from Fulbright Program (Sponsored by US State Department) as a Foreign Language Teaching Assistant in the United States of America as a teacher of Arabic at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky 2010-2012, also I studied English courses.
    6. Attended a number of different workshops in and outside the country about English Language.
    7. Oct 2007-2008

    Teaching Assistant / Trainee (under the supervision of British Council Trainers), Language Centre, Elmergib University. During this year, and the following year, I taught Headway books (Elementary and Beginner), and Reward Books (Beginner). 

    Duties in the above Language Center                                                                                           Placement testing students, teaching English (several levels), creating and administering progress tests, keeping records, issuing achievement certificates, attending British Council workshops.

    (This project is a partnership between the Libyan Ministry of Higher Education and the British Council to provide centers of excellence in English Language provision)
