Abstract

Alienation is a social and psychological phenomenon. This research monitors this phenomenon and applies it to poets in terms of studying the artistic image through analyzing the aesthetic and semantic dimensions of this image, and the extent to which it expresses the psychological and social experience of alienation. The research also seeks to reveal the artistic mechanisms adopted by Libyan poets. The research focused on the artistic elements represented by simile, metaphor, and symbolism, and relied on selected models from the works of Libyan poets.
