الملخص

This research sheds light on the suffering of Algeria during the French colonial era, where health conditions deteriorated significantly as a result of the repressive policies adopted by the colonial administration. These policies led to the spread of epidemics and diseases throughout the country due to the lack of available healthcare services for Algerians, as well as the unsanitary living conditions and environment. This situation prompted The decline in healthcare forced Algerians to resort to traditional medicine as an alternative to French treatment, for two reasons: firstly, the deliberate French neglect in providing healthcare to Algerians, while all medical resources were devoted to serving French soldiers and settlers; and secondly, the attempts by French doctors and missionary movements to spread Christianity among the population. Locals were targeted and bribed with treatment.
